Introduction

This Mobile Application Privacy Policy applies to the InovSurveys Data Entry mobile application (“the App”), which is powered by InovAnalytics. This policy explains how information is collected, used, and controlled when the App is used for field data collection.

The App is designed for researchers, data collectors, enumerators, statisticians, and field teams who are authorised by an organisation or individual customer using the InovAnalytics / InovSurveys platform. Survey forms and data-collection projects are configured through the web console at https://console.inovanalytics.com and then deployed to the App.

This policy should be read together with the main Privacy Policy, which explains broader platform-level data processing practices.

Roles and Responsibility

When the App is used for field data collection:

  • The customer (Account Owner) determines what data is collected, the purpose of collection, and whether location data is enabled.
  • InovAnalytics provides the technical platform and processes data on the customer’s instructions in order to deliver the service.
  • App users (field staff) collect data only within the scope of the configured survey and the permissions granted on the device.

Data Collected by the Mobile App

Location (GPS) Data

The App may collect GPS location data only if the Account Owner has enabled location collection for a specific project and the App user has granted the required permission on their device.

Location data is typically collected at the time of submitting a survey record and may include latitude, longitude, date/time of capture, and basic accuracy metadata.

Location data is collected for legitimate field-research purposes, such as:

  • Mapping and spatial analysis of collected data
  • Verification that data was collected in the intended geographic area
  • Audit trails and data integrity assurance

The App does not collect location data where the customer has disabled this feature or where the user has not granted permission on the device.

User Data Processing

Location data collected through the App is transmitted securely and stored together with other survey information configured by the customer, such as submission date/time and the identifier of the authorised field user who submitted the record.

Access to this data is restricted to:

  • The Account Owner (customer)
  • Authorised team members invited by the Account Owner

InovAnalytics does not use App-collected data for its own purposes. Access by InovAnalytics staff is limited to situations where it is necessary to provide customer-requested support, maintain platform security, or comply with legal obligations, and is handled under confidentiality controls.

User Control and Consent

Location data collection through the App is fully controllable:

  • The Account Owner can enable or disable location collection per project via the web console.
  • App users can grant or revoke location permissions at any time through their device settings.

If location collection is disabled at either the project level or device level, the App will stop collecting location data immediately.

Data Retention

Data collected through the App is retained according to the customer’s configuration and actions on the InovAnalytics platform. Customers may export or delete collected data using platform tools.

As described in the main Privacy Policy, data may persist in system backups for a limited period as part of standard disaster recovery and business continuity practices.

Data Security

We apply technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect data collected through the App, including secure transmission, access controls, and audit logging.

While no mobile or cloud-based system can guarantee absolute security, we work to maintain appropriate protections consistent with the sensitivity of field-collected data.

Google Play Compliance

The App collects personal and sensitive data (such as location) only for disclosed, user-facing purposes and only after obtaining the appropriate device-level permission. Data is not sold, shared for advertising, or used for undisclosed tracking.
